Each year, from October 15 – December 7, individuals with Medicare can make changes to their Medicare coverage. Plan changes take effect on January 1.
Changes can include:
- Switching from one Part D plan to another Part D plan (for those with Original Medicare) • Switching from one Medicare Advantage plan to another Medicare Advantage plan • Switching between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare with Part D
It is important to remind beneficiaries to check their coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period to ensure that their prescriptions will be covered by their plan, that they preferred pharmacy/pharmacies are in the plan’s network, and to understand plan costs. For help call our free Medicare helpline at 212-614-5310. Medicare beneficiaries with retiree/union coverage should not make a plan change without consulting with their union/former employer.
