Privacy Policy

This website is operated and maintained by the Community Service Society of New York (CSS), a nonprofit agency whose mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate for the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems.

CSS is committed to protecting the privacy and security of visitors to the Site. This Privacy Policy sets forth the policies of CSS with respect to non-public personal information that you provide to CSS.

CSS reserves the right to make changes to this Policy from time to time. You will be able to determine when this Policy was last revised by checking the “Last Updated” legend at the bottom of the Policy. CSS may provide these changes to you by any reasonable means including, but not limited to, posting the revised draft of the Policy on the website. Your continued use of the website following changes to the Policy will signify your acceptance of those changes.

What Personal Information Does the Community Service Society Collect?

As a subscriber to the Benefits Plus Online or registrant of the training courses, you provide CSS with personal information, including the following:

CSS does not see or retain credit card information. Credit card information is processed through a secure third party Payment Gateway.

How Does CSS Use Personal Information?

CSS uses the personal information that you supply for processing your subscription to Benefits Plus Online or to register you for our training courses. Personal information will not be sold to third parties. CSS only shares personal information with third parties when and if you authorize us to do so; but in all such cases, only as necessary to facilitate the transaction (i.e., to process a credit card transaction) or as required by law.

What Other Information Does CSS Collect?

To monitor the site's performance and to improve our site the Community Service Society collects and analyzes both individual and aggregate reports about web traffic. The information collected includes IP address of the user, domain of the user, URLs visited, date/time visited, time spent on the site, and documents viewed/downloaded. We do not use this service to gather, request, record, require, collect, or track any Internet users’ personally identifiable information.

How Does the Community Service Society Use this Data?

The data will be aggregated with that concerning other subscribers’ usage of Benefits Plus and the Site, and will be disclosed as aggregated data -- not personally identifiable to third parties -- for funders’ reports, promotional or other purposes.

Is this Site Secure?

CSS has established and maintains reasonable procedures to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information collected by this Site. Credit card orders are processed over a secure platform using encryption technology. Other measures we take to ensure the security of personal information include restricting access to stored information to only those employees who are involved in processing transactions or at your request.

How Can I Update My Personal Information?

If you wish to review, update or change personal information that you have provided to CSS on Benefits Plus Online, log in to Benefits Plus Online and go to “My Account/Account Information” and record your changes. When updating contact information on the training page, log in and go your “Account” and record your changes.
