This section includes information about federally subsidized public housing (New York CityHousing Authority or "the projects"), the Section 8 voucher program, the New York City shelter system and the New York City Department of Homeless Services' Advantage Programs which provide subsidies to individuals and families in the shelter system.  For information on housing subsidies provided by the New York City Human Resources Administration, refer to Cash Benefits.
