Boarder / Lodger / Rental Property
Enter income household receives from boarder/lodger.
Lodger
Individuals who pay a household for lodging but not for meals (roomers) may qualify as a separate FS household independent of the household providing the room.
Boarders
Individuals who reside with others and pay the household reasonable compensation for lodging and meals.
Note: Boarders are ineligible to participate in the Food Stamp program independent of the household providing board. However, the household providing boarder service has the option of including the boarder as a member of the household. If included, the boarder’s income will be included in determining eligibility and calculating the food stamp benefit amount. If not included, the net rent amount the boarder pays will be included in the FS household.
